Course Outline

• Bonus Chapter – The Forgotten Lesson:

You will learn the techniques and strategies required to be a great French speaker – pronunciation, fluency and how to structure responses so they sound French. This lesson provides you with the basics of the language. Without them, students will always sound like an English person trying to speak French.

• Chapter 1 – The “Présent”:

Learn how to conjugate 12,000 verbs – the foundation for understanding the other verb tenses. Become a master conjugator of most verbs in your head.

• Chapter 2 – The “Passé composé”/Simple Past:

Learn how to describe a past event using the present tense plus the past participle. The simple past tense will explain what you did previously.

• Chapter 3 – The “Imparfait”:

Learn how to describe past events. This is probably the most important verb tense of all which is why the number of ‘minimum’ exercises is highest. It is used in conjunction with the simple past.

• Chapter 4 – The “Discours indirect”:

Learn how to use third party speech. This is the most important grammatical form in the French language. It allows you to explain past events in a descriptive way.

• Chapter 5 – The “Subjonctif”:

Learn how to make statements expressing obligation, possibility, doubt, emotion.

• Chapter 6 – “Hypothèses”/”If” clauses:

Learn how to express hypothetical concepts which may occur in your life.

• Chapter 7 – “Pronom objets”:

Learn how to use pronoun objects so that you don’t have to remember all the specific vocabulary of the questions. Pronoun objects permit to talk about things without mentioning the thing again. The thing is mentioned once, then pronoun objects take over.

Every chapter is divided into:

• The Foundation: We have included two folders to help you understand the basic concept of French with a focus on great pronunciation and the second folder on being a fantastic French speaker which examines the technique of speaking French.

• The minimum exercise(s) you need to understand the structure. If you understand this, then you are ready to move on.

• Practice: A number of different exercises which will help you master the structure. You have a folder called Timeline which is a visual for understanding the relationship between all tenses.

• Confirmation: There is a minimum of one exercise which should be done effortlessly. Not hesitating will give you the confidence and knowledge that you are extremely comfortable with the structure.
