Robert started his career teaching at traditional language schools before getting frustrated with their unsuccessful methods and starting his own business. He has over 30 years of experience teaching French in Canada and abroad.

Robert has worked with thousands of students, many of whom are public servants trying to attain certain language levels to reach their career goals. He has even had some travel long distances to study his methods – a true testament to how effective they are!

Robert has spent tens of thousands of hours refining and improving the Rebel French programs based on student feedback to ensure he provides innovative and effective strategies to help them speak French more confidently, quickly and affordably.

Anne-Marie Fontaine

COO

After obtaining a degree in translation from the University of Ottawa, Anne-Marie accompanied her husband, Robert, to France where she earned a Certificat pratique de langue française from the Université de Lille III. While living in Lille, she taught English as a Second Language to students of the École supérieure de commerce. Upon returning to Canada, Anne-Marie and Robert were members of the team which developed the very first in-house French language training program for federal government employees. As Chief Operating Officer, Anne-Marie now uses her training and organizational skills to ensure that every student has a great learning experience with Rebel French.

Marielle Fontaine

Design Lead

Marielle grew up as an artistic individual, having dabbled in many of the visual arts. Despite her creative abilities, she began her career as an Arctic environmental scientist, striving to help some of the world’s most vulnerable communities adapt to climate change. After working in the non-profit sector for a few years, she yearned to have more of an impact on the world and turned to the tech world to realize those goals as a User Experience (UX) Designer. Now, she leads the UX and marketing design of Rebel French programs and is proud to be well positioned to help Robert leave an impact on his French language students’ lives and careers.
